An adda-sutta-chai session with a fence sitter and I am back to blogging after a long hiatus, on a topic far removed from my personal likes and getting affected by it without having any taste for the political context of the whole drama surrounding it!

A discussion with this fellow bong friend who is far removed from all this melodrama, and the bytes which followed this intensely heated discussion has only served to give me an insight into what may not be!...

Here are some quote unquotes....

Off late there has been nothing more significant in the newspapers than the defeat of the longest serving democratically elected Communist government.Didi drives out Dada!

Change is Good,Change is Constant, yet Change can also be the biggest Facade for the Old!

While the Winds of change have ushered a new Hope, there is still the usual skepticism among others who only know better.

Didi was never a good administrator. While she can win loud shouting and slinging matches with a voice to match, there is little she presents in terms of governance and an aggressive growth culture.
While this is a trait very common to us,it has largely been reserved as a pride of the capital.
The mass exodus of talent and intellectuals would have happened irrespective of the Government of the Day.

Lethargy,Adda concepts are deeply ingrained into the DNA of the average inhabitant.
While we enjoy sipping Tea with political discussions , there is little we actually want to do in terms of changing the system.
Everything is up for discussion but is never followed up with an execution strategy.

The hooliganism which had come to define the Reds is now an inherent part of the Greens.
The easiest part of the battle has been won but the way forward is more difficult than it seems.

While we try to digest this change, and bring back the so-called glory, the people themselves will have to change and this change will have to come from within.
The big question which arises is Are we ready for change? Nobody is sure.
For all the significance we might see in this win, in the larger context perhaps not much has changed.

Attitude almost always determines your Altitude in Life was never more apt than here!

While going Green is beneficial, there are innumerous carbon footprints which need to be cleared to see the beauty of the actual Green.

Till then, it is as always "Much Ado About Nothing" and a case of Wishful thinking of becoming a "Ruposi Bangal"

Our Bibliophobic Brethren

While I haven't been an active blogger of late, it does not mean I do not get affected by what's happening around me.It is just that when it comes to attack on freedom of speech, it gets me started like nothing else.

As if we were not enough hypocrites already, overly touchy is what could also easily define us Indians. Our selective outrage and an erosion of free speech,is another side to our reality.
While unabashedly, the Old and sloppy India brought shame to the new ,vibrant and progressive India, here comes another chapter with disdain for free speech. This incident fuels the ugly notion of self-censorship being practiced so shamelessly in India nowdays.
As an educated person, what hits me hard is the snatching away of the rights of the hapless students to participate in a beautiful journey called Literature.
All this because another off-the-block young Turk was to be inducted into dynastic politics.
This political party is like the stray Simian, which can bite rather harmfully; but then again could come around to be worshiped as the monkey God.
Using threat and intimidation is their old history which comes in handy whenever they need it. After all, civilized netizens and the so-called educated citizens do not want to invite the wrath of the Simian, lest they be gobbled up in the line of Ire!
Ironical as it may sound, the very people elected to guard the echelons of the Education, let it down rather so submissively and meekly.
What is endearing and brings forth some hope is the collective derision of this sordid act by the other half of the educated elite in India.
However, when Educational institutions start providing deluxe service via express delivery to selfish political ambitions, all hopes of academic independence and freedom of expression stand crashed to dust.We have had many such incidents in India where books are banned to cater to the whims and fancies of the highest echelons of power. When people have a not so clear past, the need to ban the disclosure arises.

Why not be honest and pure all the while being politically correct and dispense all need to do away with uncomfortable disclosures. Food for thought.
