I have never been able to idolise anyone.I could never relate to someone like Nehru or Indira Gandhi.Maybe I was wrong but then who cares. He never did do anything to make himself a likeable person except for being selfish in numerous ways.
But come 25th July 2002, and I got APJ Abdul Kalam as My President.
My first feelings at that time were "Good, now we have 2 educated people at the helm of affairs for India. Intellectuals to represent our Country in this Global village."
I also breathed a sigh of relief that he had trounced so many useless monkeys who could have represented us.
Little did I know then, that the scales would tilt so much in favour of APJ that an entire generation would follow his cult.I read a lot about him, tried to get every possible information about him, and all I got was that he was a higly skilled Scientist with an extremely humble background.
In the years that followed, my faith in the President was strengthened from step-to-step till it reached a climax. I started idolising APJ.He was my Hero. What Nehru could not achieve with his charisma, APJ has done it with his sheer Simplicity , Charm and Selfless nature.
Today everybody loves APJ, and would like to see more of him.
He is a Leader in true spirit. The understated reforms, the childish pranks, the Smile which reached right upto his ears, feverish pace of work, all has contributed to making a Hero out of him.
I am sure there are many out there in India, who think just like me.There are people whose lives he has changed forever.

He is indeed a Midas, except that he did not touch one of his own.His Selfless attitude reflects in that.
Who in India would have ever imagined, that one man's exit from Politics would make an entire nation poor ?
The stories which I wil prefer to tell my little one's will be that of APJ.
A man who changed the face of Presidency in India forever.
I sincerely hope that Pratibha Patil has enough pratibha to follow in his footsteps.
May we get more Achievers with "Wings of Fire" to lead us from the Front.
"Hat's off to you , Dear President"
