Pessimistic Journalism

Recent stories about Chand Mohammad (nee Chandar Mohan) not really having divorced his wife are doing the rounds...

This is the kind of news we see on the front page of the leading national dailies.
That journalism has crept into peoples houses is cliche.
However, inspite of that I read the story.Spiced up in all it shameless glory.
Chand Mohammad says that he never uttered the "talaq" word thrice, and the Deoband guys agree to it too.
Is there someone who heard him say the stupid word which can be used to effortlessly to get rid of a person in your life?

Has someone even bothered to pause and think about the sorry state of mind of the people involved in this mess?
Take for instance Fiza (nee Anuradha Bali).
One moment she is a celebrity, homebreaker,divorced,yet married ! One momemnt she is hurling abuses and rape charges etc on her husband and the other moment they are reconciled ....having press conferences...

All this dirty linen serves as food for more mirth than sympathy, and will be on celluloid soon as a B-Grade movie with all the tits and bits of Fiza's so very public life.

This is not the culture which India ought to present.Think about the effect of such news on young minds who pick up Newspapers everyday.

Thanks to an overactive media, we get to read National Dailies which hardly look like classic journalism, but more like Film Magazines.
One Kalavati makes it to the Front Page because it was Rahul Gandhi who made promises to her.What about those umpteen Kalavati's , across the geography that is India, who get ruthlessly crushed under the false promises of a life more blissful?
Why do people wash their dirty linen in public and why are others forced to gobble it up?

Why can't we present to our younger minds a more positive and constructive picture of a growing India?

Why do we have to resort to celebrity news in order to fill the 30 odd pages?
We never see any news about what our Scientists are striving to achieve?
We never see any news about growth and employment opportunities for the younger generation?
We never see any news about how our country is meeting its objectives on various fronts like Agriculture, Security etc?

All we read about it how ABC bribed XYZ,women getting raped,suicides,dowry, communal hatred,murder,layoffs,XYZ's personal life?
No wonder we hear so many young children trying to emulate adult situations !
All this only serves to create a very pessimistic picture of the current affairs of our country.

It is almost a futile effort to read the National dailies nowdays as one has to re-train the mind to think positive again!
